Hello, I'm Amy. I feel grateful to have learned much from the children and adults I meet. Children especially seem to discover the wisdom of their emotions pretty quickly. I once asked a little girl what advice she'd give to a boy who was unhappy about his parents' divorce. She told me "He should let the feelings out...if he lets the feelings out he'll erase the bad picture in his heart...and have more love." I believe letting go of the pain and heartbreak in our lives and opening up to more love frees us to lead lives that feel nourishing, powerful, and full. But it isn't easy!
I like to imagine we are all on a pathway of love, with those ahead of us guiding the way and those behind us feeling encouraged by the sound of our footsteps. My pathway has not been smooth, and my work with emotions began early, in a family filled with the strife of alcoholism and physical illness of one of my brothers. Because these experiences were emotionally intense, they also planted the desire to offer healing and hope to others facing their own obstacles and emotional pain. The losses and difficulties, new beginnings and new endings give a richness to my life and relationships I would not have expected, and may have missed had I not learned to focus on the "language of the heart."
